So, Season 2 of Legend of the Seeker has started.

Living in Canada, I cannot watch it on TV or on its official website, so I must rely on YouTube.

Where to begin...I saw the first episode and just like the first season they screw up a lot of things, although they did a decent patch job this time around. Seeing as this show is based on my favorite book series -Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books- I watch anticipating at least a more canonical season...disappointed yet again, but the action is as good as ever.

At least they got Richard's growing beard right.

Let's see... I know the director wants to make the show unique and Loosely (I use the term lightly) follow the second book; Stone of Tears, but how do you mess up something as important as Darken Rahl being Richard's FATHER? In the show he's his older brother. This is bull, because a Lord Rahl only bears one gifted heir, not two. They cannot go through with the key plot element for the rest of the series this way; Richard being the first War Wizard in 3000 years.

The first episode starts out decently enough.

Richard, Kahlan and Zedd are having a celebration with several townspeople somewhere in the Midlands (Adorable little Rachel included), rejoicing over defeating Darken Rahl. A Screeling barges in, much like it did in the Book (Except said incident occurs in the People's Palace in D'Hara, and even then, it's after Richard and Kahlan leave to go back to the Mud People). Zedd discovers the earth is cracking, opening up holes to the Underworld, and that is how Screelings are coming loose

Meanwhile in D'Hara, Mistress Cara is enjoying a bath when one of her Sisters reveals that there is still a Lord Rahl around somewhere, otherwise their Agiel wouldn't work (another contradiction, as the Agiel is based on the Bond, and will not work until they pledge loyalty to the new Lord Rahl- Richard...and Cara isnt introduced till the third book, but I can live with this) So...the Mord-Sith go out to search for this "imposter" Lord Rahl to kill him.

After a few dreary minutes, Darken Rahl returns as an intangible spirit, corrupting the minds of the Mord-Sith to still serve him, even though he is dead (This sort of happens in the book, a civil war between Mord-Sith). Cara is ambushed by her Sisters and then beaten, her Agiel taken from her and her braid signifying her station as Mord-Sith cut off.

Seems interesting enough, right?

After several awesome fight scenes, Shota talks with Zedd by a river, telling him to name a new Seeker...and her prophecy differs greatly from the book...in fact, it sort of incorporates aspects from Faith of the Fallen, if I'm reading between the lines right.

Regardless, as long as this season follows a little closer to the book, I'll be happy. Keeping an open mind while watching your favorite books trashed (But still manage to get the basic idea down) is difficult.
